Free trade zones: Qatar starts application procedure

3 billion investment offensive for SMEs

Doha/Cologne (ots) – The Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA) has launched the application process for companies wishing to invest in Qatar. Companies from the DACH region are particularly in focus.
Two free zones are currently being developed in Qatar, the first near the international airport and the second with direct access to the port.
“Our new free trade zones are not only geared to the needs of large companies. They also offer exciting opportunities for medium-sized companies to boost their business,” said the Chairman of the Qatar Free Zones Authority, His Excellency Ahmad bin Mohammed Al Sayed.
Ahmad Al Sayed continued: “In addition to a very competitive business environment, Qatar Airways is the largest air freight company in the region, with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible visa requirements and a skilled workforce. “We work closely with a number of industries and focus on companies in the DACH region because we believe there are great opportunities for partnerships.

(Logistics) companies wishing to establish themselves in one of the Free Trade Zones can now apply for $3 billion in investment aid from a previously announced fund. The QFZA Business Development Team actively supports interested parties in the application process and the subsequent licensing process. “It checks, for example, whether the targeted business activity meets the QFZA financial conditions and what steps are required for successful licensing,” explains QFZA representative Helmut Kaspers, who heads the investment team for the DACH region.
