New quartet to lead the JCL Group

Baar/Hamburg, 18 November 2020 – Our consulting customer, the JCL Group, is responding to the challenges posed by the global pandemic and the associated demands on the company by changing its organisational structure. The new management team aims to keep the SME logistics provider on track for future success.

‘We believe our ability to adapt quickly and flexibly to new conditions will be crucial in the future’, says Svend Hartog, Spokesperson of the Management Board. And why it was necessary to change from the old matrix structure to a product-related organisation. The advantages arising from this are closer customer proximity, more direct communication and faster response times.

For this to function successfully, JCL has now restructured its Management Board, allocating managerial responsibility to four individuals. Svend Hartog is responsible for the B2C business, Christof Marx heads the Road & Rail division and Axel Hinz runs the Air & Ocean business. Guido Schmid as CFO is in charge of the Group’s finances and back office. ‘We are confident that the combination of “Product Heads” and a strong national management team will strengthen our position even more in the future. The new organisational structure will generate additional synergies. Going forward, we intend to transfer these to other product areas using the principle of best practice’, says Hartog.

Under one roof

The merger of the three German JCL national companies was also designed to speed up processes and increase transparency. In November all expertise and services have been bundled under one roof. In concrete terms, this means that the three companies JCL Air & Ocean GmbH, JCL Fulfillment Germany GmbH and JCL Logistics Germany GmbH are merging to form JCL Logistics Germany GmbH, based in Hamburg. ‘The JCL Group is a medium-sized logistics service provider operating throughout Europe and is already a permanent fixture in the DACH region and Benelux. Now, thanks to the comprehensive range of restructuring measures, we are on track for growth’, says Hartog. ‘And are ready for future crises.’
